How Phoenix Macro Works

Phoenix Macro · April 2026 · 10 min read
Eight signals. One decision. Every week. This is the complete walkthrough of the system, from what it reads to how you use it.

The problem most Bitcoin accumulators face

Bitcoin is not complicated to understand. The long-term case is clear. Accumulate during weakness, hold through volatility, let the cycle work. The difficulty is not the thesis. It is execution.

The moments when accumulating makes the most sense are the moments that feel the most dangerous. Prices are down. Portfolios are red. Every headline is negative. Every instinct says wait. And so most people wait, and miss the windows that define long-term performance.

Phoenix Macro was built to solve that. Not by predicting the market. By giving you a systematic process calibrated to where the cycle actually stands, each week.

What the system reads

Every Monday at 21:00 CET, the Macro Engine reads eight independent signals across four categories.

Valuation
Is Bitcoin cheap or expensive relative to its own history? Three signals contribute here. MVRV-Z Score measures how far current market value has deviated from the realized value of all coins. The Mayer Multiple places current price against the 200-day moving average. STH MVRV measures the profitability of recent buyers specifically.
Network Economics
What does on-chain data reveal about real cost basis? RPO measures the distance between current price and the realized price of the entire network. Supply in Profit tracks what percentage of all circulating Bitcoin is sitting on an unrealized gain.
Holder Behavior
How are holders actually acting? SOPR measures whether coins moving on any given day are being sold at a profit or a loss. When it drops and holds below 1.0, sellers are accepting losses to exit. That is capitulation territory, and historically where the strongest accumulation windows appear.
Market Structure
What is the broader context? The 200-Week Moving Average Ratio places current price within four years of market memory. ETF Flow Z-Score measures institutional demand relative to recent history, tracking whether major spot ETF vehicles are seeing net inflows or outflows.

The IA Score

The eight signals combine into a single composite number: the IA Score. This determines the market phase and drives the weekly deployment recommendation.

Bottom Signals Active: 2 of 8

Signals are weighted by their historical reliability at identifying cycle extremes. When several from different categories simultaneously reach extreme levels, the score amplifies. When they diverge, the system stays cautious.

You never need to interpret eight indicators yourself. One number. The system tells you what it means for your capital this week.

The Allocator

The Allocator takes the IA Score and translates it into a precise weekly buy recommendation across three streams.

Fixed DCA
A base amount that deploys every week regardless of conditions. This layer never stops. It ensures continuous accumulation and removes the trap of waiting for a perfect entry that never feels perfect enough to act on.
Tactical Reserve
Capital held back during neutral conditions and deployed more aggressively when the IA Score reaches elevated levels. This is where cycle-aware accumulation happens.
Crash Reserve
A separate reserve held for extreme signal readings only. When multiple indicators simultaneously reach historic lows, this fires. Not a small increment. A significant deployment into the deepest accumulation windows the cycle produces.

What to enter when you first arrive

The Allocator is the starting point. Before the system can give you a weekly recommendation, it needs three inputs from you. This takes about five minutes.

01
Choose your investment profile
Three options: Conservative, Balanced, or Alpha. Conservative deploys less during signal extremes and holds more in reserve. Alpha deploys aggressively when signals align. Balanced is the recommended starting point for most accumulators. You can change this at any time.
02
Set your monthly budget
Enter the total amount you plan to allocate to Bitcoin each month. The system calculates your Fixed DCA automatically at 35% of this figure. The remaining 65% is available for tactical and crash reserve deployment when signals call for it.
03
Set your reserve levels
Two reserves. Two different purposes.
Tactical Reserve is cash set aside but not yet deployed. Every week, a portion of your budget flows here instead of going straight into BTC. During neutral or stretched conditions, the system holds back and lets this reserve build. When signals improve, it starts deploying from here.
Tac Reserve Target is your safety floor. If you set 20,000, the system will never touch that capital. Only the amount above your target is available for deployment. The 20,000 stays locked regardless of what signals say. It is your permanent buffer. Set this to an amount you would be comfortable holding in cash long-term.
Crash Reserve works differently. It does not fill from your weekly budget. When a Sell signal appears, the system redirects capital here instead of buying. That money then waits specifically for extreme market drops. When a genuine 30-40% panic occurs and most people are selling, this reserve exists so you can buy instead.
One approach worth considering: split your available cash between both reserves. Put 50% into Tactical Reserve and 50% into Crash Reserve. The Tactical side deploys during elevated signal conditions throughout the cycle. The Crash side stays completely untouched until a genuine capitulation event. Two pools. Two different deployment triggers. More dry powder when the market needs the most conviction to act. Most people have zero capital available at the bottom because they spent it all during the decline. Two separate reserves solves that.
04
Enter your existing stack (optional)
If you held Bitcoin before joining Phoenix Macro, enter your Pre-Phoenix BTC amount and the total cost in EUR. This gives the system an accurate picture of your full portfolio for Fortress progress and performance tracking. It does not affect your weekly recommendations.
05
Press Calculate and Save
The Allocator generates your first weekly recommendation immediately. From that point, the system updates every Monday. Your settings are saved to your account and sync across all devices.

The weekly workflow

The system runs on a simple weekly rhythm. One check. One decision.

01
21:00 CET - Signals update
The Macro Engine reads all eight signals and computes the new IA Score. You receive an alert. No action required yet.
02
Open the dashboard
Check the IA Score and market phase. The Allocator shows your exact recommended buy for the week across all three streams. Everything is explained in plain language.
03
Buy on your exchange
The amount, the timing, the reasoning are all decided by the system. You execute on whichever exchange you use. No connection to the platform required.
04
Confirm in the dashboard
Enter what you actually spent, how much BTC you received, and the price you paid. Your stack, Fortress progress, and portfolio data update automatically.

CONFIRM THIS WEEK'S BUY
Executed this week - next buy Monday

That is the full cycle. One week at a time. The system updates every Monday. Your only job is to show up, read the number, and act on it. Over months and years, that discipline compounds into something most people never achieve by reacting to markets alone.
